Giving her a lesson in those basics is in fact, doing her a favor.
I agree with you, Alan. Just don't let the lesson consist of punching her nose. That would sort of speak against "didn't learn a couple of very simple lessons in human relations"

I'm fine with either... question, or kilt check. Maybe i'm just a bit of a manwhore like that, as its only women that do it... either way, I couldn't be bothered to be upset about it.

    a) Female attention is never unwanted
    b) I realise that i'm dressed against the norm, so I can expect odd reactions

I don't mind the unwanted advance at all, specially if she was a beauty. Only one knows where her action may take us later in the night.

A lot of talk of violence here. Are we really going to spend time discussing hitting women (or men, for that matter) when walking away is still an option?

For all the remarks about kilt lifting and kilt checking that occurs in this forum, it's pretty hypocritical to get that upset when it actually happens.

There's a big difference between laughingly teasing about what's under there...a difference between a little tug to the pleats, and a quick peek at a guys tush...

....and a full on, single-handed r double-handed thrust and grope to the genitals with conscious intent to humiliate and invade.

But you know, for how often this happens....meaning almost never...and with the multiplicity of ways to discourage and avoid and defuse such an encounter before it ever happens, I think there's been enough talk on the subject, and I'm leaving it to contribute elsewhere.

    Hear Hear as well!

While I would like to admit that I'd do a "proper" thing like exclaim, "Young lady, how dare you lift my kilt! That is inappropriate and I feel violated!" I probably wouldn't. Especially if I imbibed copious amounts of alcohol. You see, I am descended from a very long line of Irish rakes, libertines if you will, and don't balk often at female attention!
In all seriousness...a kilt is a garment which attracts attention. When one is in bar, one is surrounded by people whose inhibitions are down and are likely to behave in a manner that some would describe as forward.
The best advice is to deal with things in stages. Laugh it of if possible, be firm if it escalates, or leave if it goes beyond that.
