I have found a very great deal on the Huish name and a fair bit on the Huish ancestry, But the tartan, ohhh that tartan. It escapes me.
The reference to the Scot side of things came from one of my uncles. Apparently, our Welsh fore-fathers moved a little bit from here to there. However, I have found history on Richard Huyshe that used to be mates with a King. I also know a great deal of that history has to do with Somerset.
This paper I can only make sense of bit and pieces on.
Richard and his charities w/ the family name.
I've read about my fore-fathers as far back as the 900's. You'd think through all of the money, poverty, fighting, waring, and so forth that at some point we would have allied with someones family.
I understand not all names have a tartan relation, but that sense of belonging is hard to escape.
Thanks for all your help lads. Hopefully we can crack this puzzle.
Cheers
