Yet another hose question
I need advice from you gentleman on the topic of hose. The great Matt Newsome is building me a new kilt in the Perthshire District/Drummon of Perth tartan and I'd like to hear your opinions on which color hose would go best.
I really wish I could find a better picture, but I think that's about as good as it's going to get.
I think maybe some kind of green to match the green in the sett. Is that what's called Lovat (sp?) Green?

I'd wear white hose with green flashes (dress) or green hose with red flashes (casual). I don't think there's enough blue in that tartan to have blue flashes accent it and I think red hose would be "too much red".
That tartan is very similar to the MacGregor tartan (my avatar).

I'm going to differ with the others on the blue. A pair of Lovat Blue hose with a similar blue shirt may just work with that. I'm personally not a fan of lite blue but if it's your taste give it a try.
Also, the green is much darker than Lovat Green. You'd probably want bottle green but that might not be brite enough if what my monitor shows is accurate.
And one last thought, don't feel you have to wear flashes all the time. Leaving them off can make the outfit look more casual when the setting permits.

Lovat green is a lighter, kind of "weathered" green. Bottle green is a darker, "richer" green. So you can use that info to make a decision dependent of the type of green in the tartan. Computer generated images almost never mirror colors accurately.

So, Lovat is just a shade of a certain color? Like Lovat Blue for example.

From Dictionary.com:
lov·at
–noun
a grayish blend of colors, esp. of green, used in textiles, as for plaids.

Black hose & shirt would, in my opinion, look good worn with red flashes. You must try other combinations, as everyones tastes are different.
