I've been to a Hindu wedding also, in India. I was dragged off the street and asked to sit up on the "stage" for the wedding. I think there was an idea that a white guy there would add "importance" to the wedding (not that I thought of it that way).
Given that most Indian men (in the South of India) wear unbifurcated clothing, I would be surprised if the kilt was not accepted.
