    Actually the kilt is pleated the same way as the first picture of the OP, to single black line. There is only one single black line in that tartan, it just looks different when made into a kilt instead of folded on a table.

    Knife pleats - I would go with the double black in the blue, if pleating to the sett isn't feasible. To my eye it looks more balanced than to the single black stripe, and to the "no stripe" is right out.
    Box pleats - the single black stripe.
