With some very fine worsted wool that I purchased specifically for use with the book, I am VERY pleased that it will be just a short while before my copy on backorder arrives. The timing is perfect now that I have learned considerably more about the basics of sewing and all through the construction of my first kilt. Maybe between the completion of my first that I designed myself and the start of my X Kilt, I will actually be ready for mastering a traditional.

You know, a copy signed by several of the kilt makers on this forum would be quite a collector's item. Even a copy signed by Barb, that had been owned and used by Steve, and signed by him, would be huge... within the kilt world, anyway.

Congratulations Barb - I can't even imagine how much work must go into updating such a fine book. I am happy for you and for the rest of us in the kilted kommunity. You and Elsie have given us a real gift by preserving the art of kiltmaking.

There will probably be a bunch of pdfs, actually. Key photos, examples of pleating to stripe and sett, other things that I couldn't add to the book but would have liked to.

Perhaps you and Matt should collaborate on a book of your own, showing knife pleated and box pleated kilts. Just my opinion, but I feel this would be great.

This is not an option because it would involve instructions that are currently in The Art of Kiltmaking. I am constrained by what my co-author will and won't agree to concerning use of that text. But a pdf that is a supplement for the book is a dandy alternative, and, quite honestly, I don't have the $$$ to print two books!!

Barb, et al.,
It is my pleasure to offer my keen eye and red pen as a volunteer proof-reader of the PDF supplement. I'd be honored. Really.

As I have actually made numerous box-pleats, I would also volunteer to assist in ANY way you could use me.

Oh goody. It's finally happening. I very much enjoyed reading the first book (strange for a manly-man). I hope I remember look back for notice of the additional info.
I wish that classes were being taught closer to Kalispell, Mt. by any of ther instructors here. I would be very honored by any of there time.
