Help wanted on some plant badges!
I was looking up some clan plant badges to see if I can "fake" some for my balmorals using silk/faux/fake flowers.
Here are some about which I have questions:
Wallace: "A sprig of oak Fructed Proper"
-WHAT does THAT MEAN?
Gordon-> "Rock Ivy"
-How different from regular ivy? I "googled" images and got nothing. In words-> got that it was a Gordon symbol.
MacGregor-> "Scots Pine"
-Any different from the regular pine trees in my backyard (OR the ones my mother just cleared from their property)?

I figured the fructed had something to do with fruit . . .
BUT it's an OAK! What fruit does an OAK bear?

OK,
Acorns is it. I HATE THOSE THINGS!
(One hit the aluminum -stock- of my MX-5/Miata and left a bif dent.)
So, a sprig of any oak will work.
The only hard one is Rock Ivy, but I should be able to find it as Atlantic Ivy (thanks to the X Marks thread found through Google- Go figure) in a faux flower shop.
Scots Pine should also be doable thanks to Christmas sprigs!
(Right now, I am GLAD I worked at Hobby Lobby and the current employees liked me enough to work with me on my oddities.)
Off to Greenville sometime this week (hopefully on my way to Atlanta with a pocket full of sprig picts)! I'll bring one of Dandelion and see what I can find (and save the name).
