Privyet TrojanRabbit! Dobry vyechir! Thank you for the links to those beautiful photos and videos. I especially like the one of the massed Pipe Bands coming into Red Square from The Kremlin, through the Spasskaya Tower gateway.
I was in Moscow in 1994 and 1995 and the photos brought back many happy memories. Balshoye spaseeba.

WOW! I was in Moscow in 2004 for a three day stay over. The world has most certainly changed. In the early 1980's as I was in the USAF, I would of never dreamed of standing there, much less a bevy of pipers...
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Troganrabbit, can you translate some of the posted comments to the photos?
World changes everyday, i thought. And becomes better and better sometimes, i hope.
And about comments: which ones you want to be translated?

Kremlin Zoria 2007
I was there as a piper with the Australian Federal Police Pipes and Drums. I can say it was an awesome event to be part of - so many firsts....the audience response was great, and so much interest in the pipes amongst the crowds as we walked back to our buses (the lassies loved the kilt!).
To be part of the finale with the Kremlin and St Basil's and the fireworks with the 1812 overture, and the audience response to the pipes playing traditional Russian melodies will last me a lifetime!

Not any particular one comment. I would just like a general feel of what was said. Did the majority of people that posted comments like of dislike the pipes, kilts etc?

How the world has changed.
I was refused a visa to visit the USA in 1987 because I had been through the wall into East Berlin in 1972 as a student. Wonder if they'd still refuse if I applied again now.
Robert Burns had certainly been heard of in the old soviet union and I know of people from Scotland who used to go there to attend Burns suppers. They may have had a piper from Scotland to pipe in the haggis, but massed bands would have been unheard of. Its great to see the pipe bands and their music becoming recognised throughout the world.

Hi everyone, I'm from Saint-Petersburg Russia - my friends and I were fascinated with the Pipes and Drums taking part in the Zorya! It was wonderful! Exactly what I personally wanted to see sooooo much! )))
2RUSTY don't worry - people just LOVED pipes and drums! i've read those comments, and also those on the tv channel 1 forum, and on many other forums )) they say it's been their favourite and most beautiful part of the whole tattoo)
the only thing we cann't understand is - who was the Drum major - 'cause we didn't see that guy before the Edinburgh tattoo is he from the Black Watch? if anyone knows the answer we'd be glad
