Gorgeousness is in the eye of the beholder. For me tartans are about what they represent. If they represent nothing, they have no appeal. And if they represent something, they are appealing, no matter what they look like.
Ah but if you see a gorgeous lass walking down the street holding the hand of another man it does not make her not-gorgeous, just makes things a bit more of a challenge .

These particular tartans received the most nominations. This is certainly not a scientific poll, it is merely a fun poll. It is also a chance for those to see beyond their clan tartans. Let's face it this poll does not include all the other tartans that so many find gorgeous. After all all tartans are designed to be just aesthetically pleasing otherwise all tartan would be a solid natural colour. Please see my earlier comments regarding Wheather Buccanan. The modern colours are very bright, brilliant, to me but given a hundred years and 12 tonnes of peat then that tartan brings about a different definition of brilliant. The designer of that wasn't colour blind, no to me, he was a visionary.
