Ballroom Dancing Kilted?
Are any of you hip cats into ballroom dancing? Waltz, foxtrot, swing, that kind of thing.
My wife and I are joining the Bozeman formal dance club, and I intend to attend kilted. Got my PC jacket, got my dancin' shoes, working on shirt and tie, and slowly expanding my kilt collection so I can provide my fellow dancers with a variety of outfits for their viewing pleasure.
So far I have only one that's appropriate for formal events - a beautiful grey/black tartan 5-yard casual that looks s-m-a-s-h-i-n-g with the PC. I have a USAK casual on order and I think it will work very well, too. Hopefully I can get a really nice wool kilt early next year (drooling about an Isle of Skye traditional...but the accountant writhes in agony at the mere mention). Need a more formal sporran, but to me the kilts are higher priority, so I might modify one of the black day-wear sporrans I already have.
So do any of you dance?

The Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess, known here on XMTS as The F-H.C.A.G. and her husband have been known to Waltz, Polka, Swing (East and West Coast), and even Tango when he was kilted.
Cheers

Panache, known here on XMTS as Panache and his wife have been known to Waltz, Polka, Swing (West and East Coast), Tango, Rumba, Cha Cha, and, of course Scottish Country Dance whilst kilted!
The only problem I see, is that his flare is generally better than mine when he is kilted.
Be well,
p.s. He didn't mention the Latin dances, as he is not particularly fond of them. But...at least there's always Iolaus! As we all know, Tango is NOT a Latin dance. We all do know this don't we?

Yes. We do.
I'm a tango nut....I mean the music, not so much the dance.
BTW, I've had the honor of swinging with the F-H.C.A.G.

I'm almost always kilted when I'm dancing - swing, tango, funky chicken, whatever. Dancing kilted is fun!

I used to do a lot of ballroom dancing and have seen a few pictures on this forum of people dancing at weddings with their sporrans between themselves and their partners.
If you are going to hold a woman in your arms to dance, you really should slide your sporran round over your hip so that it does not get in the way or interfere with your partners dress.

Ballroom dancing in a kilt is fine. It's considered good manners to move your sporran to your left hip when dancing so as not to injure your partner.
