How the world has changed.
I was refused a visa to visit the USA in 1987 because I had been through the wall into East Berlin in 1972 as a student. Wonder if they'd still refuse if I applied again now.
Robert Burns had certainly been heard of in the old soviet union and I know of people from Scotland who used to go there to attend Burns suppers. They may have had a piper from Scotland to pipe in the haggis, but massed bands would have been unheard of. Its great to see the pipe bands and their music becoming recognised throughout the world.
