GLASPELL Could be Welsh. There is a place in Wales called Glaspwll. Glaspey may be a variant of Gillespie (original Gaelic: Mac Gille Easpaig), in which case it would be unrelated.
A Gaelicised spelling would be Gleaspaeil.
