Loathe as I am to ever disagree with CCGA3359 about anything (I hear he wields a mean chicken
) I believe that according to the Kilt Police brown accessories are less formal than black. (That whole IMHO antiquated day wear vs. evening wear thing.) I avoid the problem in its entirety by retiring in the evening in my silk smoking jacket and fez as demonstrated below.
