Loud MacLeod On The Colorado River

So, for the first time this year I got back on the Colorado River down in Glen Canyon. A group of 40 of us went on two rafts. Since I was in charge of checking folks in wanted to be easy to find in the crowd. What better answer than a Loud MacLeod kilt.

Great float trip from Glen Canyon Dam, through Glen Canyon, to Lees Ferry, Arizona. Saw blue herons, golden eagles, falcons, turkey vultures, and brightly colored ducks.

Only two comments on the kilt. One before we loaded up on the bus to take the trip through the tunnel to the base of the dam. A guy asked if the tartan were MacLeod. Knew his stuff. Climbing aboard the bus at Lees Ferry I was the last one one and the lady bus driver was climbing up behind me, but then made a big deal of holding back saying she didn't really want to know what a Scotsman wore beneath his kilt. I just said "sandals."

The water comes out of the bottom of Lake Powell so its about 45 degrees Farenheit all the way to Lake Mead. It'll cool you off.

Kilt is USA Kilts semi-traditional in PV.

Pics were taken when it was calm on the river. A few miles downstream it got VERY windy, and choppy and we had lots of bowspray. Not whitewater rafting, but still fun.

Something about pictures of you standing in a river kilted just seems so natural.
