Various directions needed

So I'm beginning to finally get all of my accessories together, both for everyday and partly for Halloween (I know, the kilt is not a costume, but neither are pants, but I'll be more comfortable and better looking in it this way).

I need help finding a few things online.

• First Black hose. I found some from "the scotland yard" for 25 dollars. Unfortunately, I'm on a community college budget, so I was wondering if there was a cheaper option. Doesn't' need to be wool, in fact, a cotton/synthetic blend would suit my needs much better.
• Second I want a Celtic Raven kilt belt buckle. The belt I have to get from Stillwater, and I already have a few general purpose buckles from a mistaken ebay buy, but I'm going to be a raven for Halloween and I thought that would be a nice touch. I don't want to order a cheap one off of ebay and have it fall apart on me.

Over all, I plan on getting the a plain black kilt (along with a MacPherson dress kilt for a splash of tartan) from Frugal Corner, black shirt, black modified tail coat. I'm thinking of modifying one of my two economy sporrans and adding feathers to the face of it. And making a cape with extra torn ribbon like cloth to represent feathers. Throw the black hose, homemade black flashes, a black sgian dubh from imperialweapons.com and I think I'll have a nice little outfit. Oh, did I mention the custom raven mask I'll be making?

Much of it I will be able to wear after Halloween, except maybe the cape. Even the mask will find its way back out someway. I'll have to have anther summer costume party.

Enough of my rambling. So, does anyone have any ideas for where I can purchase an INEXPENSIVE pair of black kilt hose and raven belt buckle? Oh, and any ideas on a kilt pin? I was thinking something representing a talon, or claw. I should be able to make something like that out of wood, but ideas are good.

And in my defense for using it as *part* of a costume, wouldn't I still need to wear something on the bottom half, pants or a kilt? Why should the boys and I suffer for celebrating Halloween or Samhain? If I costume, I may as well do it in style.

While I understand James MacMillian sentiments, I also understand your position. SportKilt has some of the least expensive hose around.

Black soccer socks at your local "real" sporting goods store might be just the ticket.

And I hate pants!

If I were going to go to a halloween party and still wanted to free myself from those hated cloth tubes (THCT) then I would just cut up a cheap sheet, and make myself into an arab.

Or go as a south sea islander.

Or a budist monk.

Or - well you get the idea.

In Adam's defense and since I switch between pants and kilts regularly, I have used both kilts and pants in Halloween costumes...not at the same time, of course. And neither the pants, nor the kilts were the main focus of the costume.

Well, I guess that's not completely true. Two years ago, the folks at work TOLD me to wear the kilt to the Halloween party. I tried explaining that it wasn't a costume. So I found a way to make it a costume and got out of wearing pants to work that day.

And then I started wearing a kilt to work every Friday. After all, it's not a costume.
