Thank you all for the excellent photos and thoughtful replies! This certainly gives me something to muse over and work with. I'll let you know what the finished product looks like. Meanwhile I love to see all those Robertson tartans out there...sigh.

In this kilt, the elements are all there (nothing is missing, as far as I can see), but I would have done a couple things differently had I been pleating it. I would have made sure that the elements in the pleats were symmetrical (e.g., the double black stripe in the pair of pleats to the left of center ought to be mirror images of each other, but they aren't), and I would have put each single stripe in the center of its pleat all the way to the top (the red and white stripes are centered at the bottom of the fell, but at the top, they are not centered).
Again, I'm just offering this as something to think about for those of you who make kilts, since the person who originally posted this asked about how best to pleat this tartan.
