The first image is a computer generated image, they never do the tartan justice. However the tartan below is quite nice you don't often see olive in tartan at least not so predominantly. Edit, I just showed mt 7 yo daughter the tartan, she said she liked it. I knew there was a reason we named her Taylor.

Here is the page from the STA tartan ferret for the Arctic tartan. I did not find the Antarctic there perhaps one of our fine kilt makers would be able to track it down, as the original photo was of Barb's daughter I would think Barb would be the first person I would ask.

It was available through Ros Jone's website but it appears to be no longer active. Barb T had thought in an earlier thread that she may have passed on (speculation only).

All proceeds from the sale of the tartan went to the Antarctic Trust. http://www.ukaht.org/shop.htm#Tartan They do not list just yardage being available but there is a contact link I am sure that they can answer questions concerning the availability.

I emailed UKAHT last summer, and they said they would be happy to sell yardage for kilts. Just go to their site (http://www.ukaht.org/shop.htm) and send them an email! As far as I know, DC Dalgliesh does the weaving, and it's only available in 11-12 oz. Makes up into a nice lightweight kilt, though.

Strange to think the Antarctic tartan is available only in medium weight. Know about global warming, but Antarctic is still a cold place, isn't?

Yes. So cold, in fact, that you would probably never consider wearing a kilt there (not for long, anyway).

Not so cold, in fact. In Summer 06, a team of scientists from Quebec spent the Winter there in a sailship. They had to leave the bay they first had elected because it didn't freeze up (so there were dangerous waves during storms). In the Spring, that is October and November, they contacted some school classes here in Quebec, and it was colder here than down there!
