I have a Framus Texan, have been playing folk music a long time.
The Texan has a slender neck and I have small hands, so it is the only guitar, apart from one exactly the same, that I have ever been able to play properly. You can tell I used to play in a trio, I have the head of it up by my left ear.

It is about 40 years old now but still in one piece.

I have a wide repertoire, but include quite a few songs from the isles, Kishmul's galley, the Lewis bridal song, Mingulay boat song, etc. but use about 7 cords and a capo for the accompaniment.

Getting back to the question at hand. An alternative (to moving your belt), which alot of my guitarist mates do, is tape up the back of the guitar where your buck rubs. Gaffa tape saves the world once more.

Ozmeath's post reminds me that a few of my buddies always had a polishing cloth in their case and would wrap it around their belt buckle when playing.

Seamus used to be lead singer for a Celtic Punk band called Shillelagh Law. He's not active here now, but if you send me a PM I'll put you in touch with him. They sang traditional songs as well as some of their own.

I have done that before. I have draped it over the top so I wouldn't get as much sweat on it when playing outside when it was really hot.
