US Source for kilt hose?
Hi all,
Having 1.75 X-kilts (the second is pending waistband stitching- handsewing 6' of 7-layer-plus fabric is not fun), and a Wallace economy from SWK, I'm thinking I'd like to get a pair or two of kilt hose. I looked at kiltstore, and while they have wonderful prices on items themselves, their shipping is... a bit prohibitive for me, at present. Are there any recommendations for a North America-based shipper with a few color choices for kilt hose?

We have hose in a wide variety of colors and styles at several different price points.

alhrensblade, I noticed in another thread that you are here in Colorado. There are a few kilt stores in Denver and Colorado Springs that might be able to assist you. Also, if you search here on "kilt hose" you will find several alternatives that might work out better for you.

As Matt mentioned... he has them.
USA Kilts has them.
SK has cheaper (quality and price) ones.
FK has them (though he's in Canada)

For a for great budget kilt hose check out Hamilton Dry Goods. These are outstanding for guys with larger than average calves.

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I think I'll try and check out some of the places in Denver- with one caveat: Livingston, do you happen to have a couple of store names? I've not got a clue how you'd look up a kilt store in the phone book
I'm heading up there this weekend, so I ought to be able to track some down.

I have seen James Mc mention SockDreams on this board and they have some nice looking kilt-hose-type socks at a great price. That being said, I haven't tried them myself so I can't vouch personally as to how good they are. Anybody else used them?

Another option that might pass muster are rugby socks (from a decent sporting goods store). I've got a couple of pairs of those and they look OK. Inexpensive too...

If you decide to buy them from an on line vendor be sure they're in stock and ready to ship first - if you're in a hurry.
Best Kilt hose in my opinion are the Lewis style that Matt carries at the Scottish Tartans Museum, higher price, but also higher value.
Best place to buy standard kilt hose is from a vendor at a highland games - saves the shipping and sometimes you'll find them priced for clearance.
And, if soccer sox do the trick (pushed down), great buys at sporting goods stores as mentioned.
