I wouldn't be surprised if your son takes a liking to it as he gets a bit older. I willingly admit I am very lucky with my sons liking the kilt. I do have some advantages though, my sons are in Scotland once a year (we have a home on Bute) and so even though they are half Italian they definitely identify themselves as Scottish, they are fascinated by pipe bands so wearing the kilt means they get to dress like pipers and they are still young enough that they want to be like Dad.

Unlike many of the rable I never really made a conscious decision to wear the kilt it was always just part of my wardrobe from the time I was a boy. My guess is that will be a similar experience for my boys; it's just something you wear. They will probably wear the kilt all their lives although I doubt exclusively.
