    I've just sent you a personal email MacSimoin, with a full breakdown of the charges, via Fedex and via US Customs. It seems that the kilt was correctly charged at 12% but you ordered an extra 8 metres of cut fabric that there is a 25% tariff on, which mostly accounts for your unusually high charges.

    We are investigating further whether there is any legal way around this. But please let me know if you don't receive the documents.

    No comment on fed-ex. The least expensive way to order items from the U.K. is to have anything under 2 kg shipped via Royal Mail. If the value is under $200 for personnal use then nobody working for the U.S. government is going to do expensive paperwork to deal with it. This also works out to have large orders split up into several smaller ones. Ten $200 items will come through, whereas one $2000 package will most certainly cost you. Here is an informational link.
