Welcome from the Big Apple! And if you're local, you're welcome to the Kilt Night gathering we're having this evening. If interested, just check the section for these gatherings for the details or pm me.
Btw, my good kilts are also from Geoffrey.

I am actually looking at getting a Utilikilt. I have run into a lot of Lighting Director on tours who have come through my arena wearing them. Its more amusing when they climb to the truss to do a focus.

I would have to say that one does not need Ghillie Brogues to finish an outfit, take a look at the style threads, in particular the Dressy and Formal you will notice that many, myself included forgo the Ghillies for a regular business shoe. I think you would be fine if you got yourself an Argyll, or Breamar jacket, and left the shoes as your regular dress shoes.

If you have a lot of climbing to do you might want to consider the Workman's model which includes a "modesty snap closure system to keep the neighborhood wives from fainting"

Welcome from your neighbor not too far off! If you are still looking for certain items (ghillies), I can tell you one or 2 places to check out, and one or 2 to completely avoid! Definitely find your size before you order shoes online, I found I'm a whole size smaller with the ghillies I purchased a little over a year ago. And again, welcome to the addiction!!!
Regards,
Tom
