He had to make do with buying a smart pair of black trousers to attend the wedding.
I had the opposite problem. On a recent trip to Memphis, where I had to attend a public meeting for work, I forgot to pack trousers, which I usually wear for this type of thing. Not wanting to buy a new pair that would mostly sit in my drawer I checked a few thrift stores but nothing jumped out at me So I went to the meeting in a kilt. No problems, any comments were positive.

Rex - that little town with the provincial but upscale downtown wouldn't have been Aiken SC would it? If so I know that store. I go to Aiken a lot on business.

If it's white fur then it's highly unlikely seal as the poor buggers can't be clubbed until they're older (grey fur). As for James, don't be passing of that white rabbit as baby seal around a Canadian. We have a different meaning of clubbing here in Canada. At the very least I highly recommend that you not be wearing it at the time .

Rex, even if it is seal, you'll be fine. Americans aren't being asked to turn in their sealskin sporrans to local police of face serious jail time. Are they?

It very well could be, but I would hate to get anyone in trouble with the Fish and Wildlife folks, so I will neither confirm or deny. The name of the shop in question will have to remain a curiosity.

    Rex,

I'm amazed at the technology used to work things out. And, it occured to me how "hidden" some Celtic goods retail shops are. We have a map of forum members. Maybe someone could develop a map of Celtic goods retail shops, Celtic themed food and beverage places....or maybe they need their own "guild" with a map.

Rabbit, seal, wookie; I don't see what the big deal is. As long as it isn't a soylent sporran I don't have a problem with it.

A seal walks into a pub.

    "What'll you have?"

    "Anything but Canadian Club!"
