I've been gradually phasing the kilts in, slowly adding new places. I've worn them around campus and to student events, but on monday I wore the kilt to class for the first time. I would have done it sooner, but in some classes you just don't want to stand out, and I'm also usually running late, and it takes a little longer to get ready with a kilt than it does to throw on the pair of shorts.

No one said anything in class, just one or two unusual looks.

I wish public kilt wear were as accepted where I live, I've worn my Macdonald tartan kilt around town here in Idaho several times and gotten mostly odd stares. On the bright side though, I get negative comments almost exclusively from those of the male gender
I'm at a young enough age though, that my parents still have a say in my actions, they think I'm trying to get away with cross-dressing. I'm slowly working the idea into their heads as acceptable, but I get a lecture if they hear I've been showing it off anywhere but at home or sports events.

My fiance's from Idaho and I've never gotten anything but positive comments when wearing my kilt there. (Often my Macdonald at that!)
I'll be there next month to get married and, as usual, will be kilted the whole time.

Are you from a smaller town in Idaho?

It was small when I moved here, now it's around 80,000
It's not so much the people in general, I guess more in my family.

I hear I once had an uncle that liked wearing the women's clothes . . .

Well, that explains a lot, then!

That said, if I happen to bump into you next month, I'll be sure to put in a good word to your family for the manliness of kilts.
After all, a kilt helped me steal away one of your American women!
