I started writing this thread to make a point....that basic solid color kilt hose was available for normal-human-being prices while diced hose and argyl hose cost a flipping MINT. I've seen hose selling for $300, and guys I don't care about what's "proper" I am NOT spending three hundred dollars on a pair of socks.

Kilt Hose, by Woolrich at the Kilt Store that advertises on this site, currently on sale for $17.15

Very nice colored and white hose..VERY nice... from the Scottish Tartans Museum.. $40

From the Kilt Store...diced hose tops, not even the whole sock, just the tops...........$147

8-ply 22 inch "diced" hose from the Almost Unwearoutable Sock company in Northumberland will be 45 pounds, plus shipping, or by the time I get them to the USA, about $120.

But then I came across this....

J.HIggins sells diced hose for $45...now we're talking

IF you can make red and green or red and white work for you. But they also will custom-make hose in any colors you want on special order for $45. Does anybody have a pair?

OK, so that is almost sort of affordable. It's no more expensive than the hose from the Scottish Tartans Authority. I've seen those and they're very nice, Panache has a few pair.
