I also consider my kilts as garments. When not at work, I wear kilts daily (work requires coveralls). My usual choices are the casual or contemporary kilts. Tartans are reserved for more dressy occasions but not always. An SWK with a nice rugby jersey is a great pub outfit. The same SWK with a button down shirt and the appropriate accessories looks very smart.
