Shoulder plaid(e)/ Day plaid(e)

Sorry I messed up the recognitions for help, and quite sorry for the social blunder of snootiness. It was directed to some rather kurt kilt makers I have experienced in my quest. Not the general and informed public. I'm willing to share a dram with the lot of you the next time I'm over. You've all been a wealth of info.

I'm looking forward to any of your ideas on where I might find such finery. Even if it required a custom order. I'm also trying to ask a gentlemen at Alex & Scott in Aberdeen for his ideas. I believe they make kilts onsite. The last time I was upstairs in their shop they had a wall full of bolts of fabic.

It would seem to me that you could just get a fly plaid made from heavier cloth.

Or, if you didn't want the fringe, just get a length of tartan cloth.

Hmmm.... I have a yard or so of Black Watch fabric, not really enough to make anything... This gives me an idea...

it could be like an extra layer in addition to one provided by the belted plaid agianst the cold weather. I think that would be great to have.

One earlier question that was never answered properly: Are day plaids supposed to not match the kilt? I'd buy one and start wearing it, but I'm worried about ending up in Pour1Malt's thread for not matching tartans.
