    Halloween Treat

So I'm at the post office picking up the usual stack of holiday catalogs and there's a card to pick up a package.

I don't have anything on order. Figure its a mistake. Go get it and its a box...just the right size....from Jerry at Stillwater kilts....could it be???

There's a hand scrawled note on the box that says, "Do Not Open Until Christmas"

Well...hey....everyone knows Christmas was a long time ago so what the heck....

Inside...you guessed it...black and beautiful...elegant even. Immediately noticed some improvements over the nylon....like the tassles are VERY soft and hang from a double strap instead of a single.

And the smell...you'd think my cat and I were BOTH in catnip....

Thank you sir. You have an excellent product here.

Maybe its just me that has trouble with other forms of closures on sporrans...but zippers work best for me.

Gonna wear it to work tomorrow for sure and get some pics.

And....I wanna place an order for a brown one too....puleeze.....

Well, I missed out on this one altogether! One problem of being able to lurk only infrequently nowadays!!

I am SO thrilled with my nylon Stillwater sporran, which probably gets more everyday outings than any other in my Kollection, that I was looking forward to getting my hands on a leather version. Oh well! I'll just have to keep my eyes skinned in future....

Ham, that's the beauty of this sporran design. It just works for day-to-day wear. To have it in leather now (okay soon) is a dream come true.

When I'm wearing another style, even a more decorative sporran, I miss the 'one handed convenience' of this sporran. Not to put any other designs down, just like you say, its the sporran design that gets picked for wear most often.

    Ten Days of Field Testing

Okay, have pretty well tested this leather zippered sporran critter the past ten days.

Same convenience as the nylon for sure. The front wallet pocket seems just a hair smaller than my nylon one so actually keeps my wallet a bit snugger, but still easy to get in and out. Being leather figure it will stretch a bit with time.

Main difference I notice is the leather feels softer. I sit a lot and the leather feels more natural in my lap. Its a soft leather so its not like the hard leather sporrans that feel like a book in my lap. Its even softer than the nylon so instead of laying on me it seems to sort of follow my form.

The soft tassels don't make as much noise when I walk..and they look more authentic to me than the tassels on the nylon version. They still "thunk" a bit, but not as loud.

Then there's the "new car/sporran" smell of leather. Drove down to Hopi yesterday and I kept wondering where the leather smell was coming from in the car...then remembered...new leather sporran in my lap.

And, I didn't feel the need to move the sporran to one side when I drove. That's a first for me.

Jerry has himself a winner here for sure.

Wondering if maybe it'll also eventually come in a light brown/tan AND a dark brown?
