One thing she and Jerry at SWK both mentioned to me about the MBP versus simple knife pleat is that it takes a bit more care when pressing because you are dealing with a fold in two directions for each pleat (3 if you count the inner pleat). Kathy Lare is the only kiltmaker on this side of the pond (except, perhaps, Robert Macdonald of West Coast Kilts - I don't know) who does the MBP. It adds $100 to the cost of the kilt. Only you can decide if it's worth it. I'm not sure just how I'd get into a car with it. Would you need to sweep pleats in two directions simultaneously?
