Kilted in Dearborn
Well, I have been staying at the Dearborn Inn (Dearborn, MI) this week while taking some classes. Do to the nature of my business I have behaved and worn slacks (yuck) to class. Howver, once I get back to the hotel it is kilt time. It has been fun to see the reactions and field the questions. So far nobody has asked 'the question, but most of the questions have been if I play the bagpipes or if I am here for a convention. One employee at the hotel has been really great about me wearing the a kilt. One evening when I was speaking with this employee another guest came up and asked me why I was wearing a quilt. Before I could begin to answer the hotel employee came back, "He wears a kilt because that is what he prefers to wear." You had to be there. I do think that this guest was going to dig at me, but the hotel employee shut him down, now.

I used to wear a quilt all the time, but I kept slamming it in the car door, trailing it in the toilet bowl, and tripping over it when I did the Highland fling.
And for some odd reason, if I snuggled in it to watch TV I'd fall asleep????

The Dearborn Inn has been pampering me and the places that I have ate at have been great. Of the Mariotts that I have stayed at this one is the best. I have not been enjoying the road conditions.....huges holes and bumps.

Welcome to the reason I now live in Cantucke. Well, ok, not a real reason, but it is nice to drive over smooth roads (although it took awhile to get used to the curves).
Glad to hear you're enjoying yourself in Dearborn. I'm from Taylor, originally, and went to school in Dearborn Heights, so I know right were you are at.

Way too bad you can't kilt up for your classes. Its sooo comfy when you have to endure hours of it. At least you get some kilt time after.
Seems like when I'm kilted for conferences and trainings is when I get all the "You must be comfortable" comments.
And, sounds like a nice place to be staying. I always had trouble finding lodging in Detroit. My claim to fame was staying in the Algiers Motel Annex for a weekend, just a few weeks before the riots broke out there.
