    Question Funny Comment

    I recently got a funny reaction to my being kilted. As a member in a local choir I sing in a variety of venues. I am the only one who wears the kilt. For a night gig I am in concert blacks, while often during the day we dress casually and in no uniform manner.

    Last week we were filing through a community center en route to helping open an art show. I was wearing a tan shirt and Gunn modern. A woman looked up, saw me, and cried out "Holy Moly! There's somebody in a kilt!"

    I'm not sure what she meant, but for some reason this tickled me.

    Sounds good to me! I bet it was more in delight than malice.

    Yep...I think she meant, "AMAZING! BEAUTIFUL! FABULOUS! I wish we all looked so good!"

    She was definitely appreciative. I have just not ever elicited quite that response.

    She didn't recognize the tartan and mistook it for the tartan of the McMoly clan. They have a tartan dedicated to the only McMoly that didn't steal cattle and thereby was known as the Holy McMoly. Over the years the "Mc" has been dropped to the more simple "Holy Moly"

    Think only positive thoughts about this one. In my experience women generally make only positive, supportive comments about men in kilts.

    Hey, there! I think Moosedog is a kilted woman. I remember seeing a photo, I believe.

    Ah yes, I remember it well; an ancient Highland legend;

    Miss Molly Mc Moly abandoned the World, & fled to a Convent. From then on they referred to her as "Holy Mc Moly" but the Kilt police went after her for sewing sporrans incorrectly so she had to drop the 'Mc" part of her name; from that day to this she is always called "Holy Moly". I just can't help myself.
