Oh, man! If I had known! I'll be in Tucson in January, but if I had realized the games would be in November, I would have tried to be there then instead! Argh!
I wanted to time the trip to match the Mesa games in February, but my wife could not get that weekend off. My family used to go to the Mesa games for several years running when I was a kid. (My mom was pipe major of a band in San Bernardino, so we kids went along wherever the band did a competition.) I miss going to Highland Games in the winter. There's only one games in Alaska and that's in Summer.
Anyway, gives me something to think about for next time we get outside.

As MacDougall mentioned, I'll certainly be there. We've even managed to get Macdougall's uncle to kilt up for the event! Looking forward to a fine weekend.

There's been a moderate change in my plans, but it mostly works out for the better.
I am now driving into Tucson on Friday night, staying at the Travelodge off the I-10 (anyone else gonna be there?).
I'll be competing in the Athletics on Saturday, and on Sunday I am training at our site in Blythe. It's only a three hour drive to Blythe, so I can hang around at the AD for several hours before I have to get back on the road.
See you gents there... I'll be the guy in the kilt...

Hamner, my uncle, and myself will be wandering around on Saturday. I'll be joined by my mother in the afternoon. So look for three gents in Black Watch kilts together in the morning, and the [s]handsome[/s] handy fellow in my icon with an aged relation in the afternoon.

I didn't run across anyone I recognized, but I didn't have a lot of time. I was on the field throwing from 9:00 until around 3:30 and only got to wander a bit after.
I did head down to the Auld Dubliner around 5:00, but no one made it there before I had to leave. I still had a long drive ahead of me and couldn't afford to stick around much longer.
On the plus side, I TOOK FIRST PLACE! At least for Arizona, I am now a B Class. I got a really nice little trophy, it's a carved wooden saguaro cactus about 10 inches tall with a plaque stating the game and my place. Wonderful.
I also SHATTERED a couple personal records of mine, bettering my previous throws by over 13 feet! My previous best light hammer was 73', today I threw 85'. My heavy hammer was at 55', today I threw 68'! I also cleared 11' on the Weight Over Bar for the first time in competition and very nearly got 11'6".
Good day!

Great job. Maybe you should go on long drives before every games. Seems to benefit your muscles.
Ya didn't see me 'cause I couldn't get there again this year. Maybe '08....

No kidding Ron. My two best games ever (my two first place finish games, also where I set my PR's) were both after long road trips. Seems like if I drive eight hours or more I do great.
I think next year maybe I'll drive to New York. I should be able to compete with the Pro's then.

First of all, congratulations to Yaish for doing so well. I didn't get very many pictures but here's a taste.
Check out the sign over KFPs left shoulder.
Vinnie and KFP playing at the Auld Dubliner after the games. It was homecoming weekend but as it was an early game most were home sleeping it off. Except this guy.
A little dancing in the streets. The girl on the left in six inch heels.
One of our new members, from New Mexico, helping out with piping duty. Introducing Sake sippin Scot.
And Finally, a view from the XMTS private snug by the bar. BeerTigger and his Missus were there also but he ran off while I was out chatting with some girls.
