I don't see how this tartan pleated to the stripe is very different from many other tartans pleated to the stripe which hide one colour or another in the pleats. I reference again the Artic and Antarctic tartan kilts sewn by Barb T. which she's posted photos of. The two kilts each effectively hide one predominant colour in the pleats, which can only be seen when the wearer is walking. If you view these kilts from the side it looks almost as though they're made of two different tartans, since the pleats look very different from the sett. I think this looks fabulous, as do I think the St. David's kilt does. Yes, it's different from how you might normally see it, but is that a bad thing? I have some Welsh in my blood, and I'd very much be seen (alive and) dead in this kilt.

    Andrew.

Here it is waiting for canvas, buckles and lining. I can recommend Vogue Fabrics online. I just got an e-mail that they refunded over half of the shipping charges I paid them for my horse hair canvas.

I finished the aprons and waistband. I'm not cutting the pleats in the fell because it is only 5.5 yards of poly viscose and I didn't need to.

Front apron. You can see by the size of the set, why I went double deep on the pleats.

I already wrapped it around my bum and it is going to fit great.

I'm keeping stum Andrew as I have said my piece.

The workmanship looks good - that's something we can agree on!

I hope you post some pics of this kilt with you walking so that we can get the full effect! Personally, I love kilts pleated to the stripe precisely because of the difference between front and back and the flash that can happen with strong color differences.

It's going to be "different", that's for sure, but you know....nothing wrong with that!

I, too am looking forward to pictures of the finished product, on the wearer. This one might be worth 30 seconds of video!
