I attended these games last Saturday with my girlfriend and her daughter.
Weather wise, it was a beautiful day. I also got to meet a fellow X-marker.
-I got the impression through advertisement and word of mouth that it was a new HG.
-There were very good vendors and they were selling loads of kilts at these games. I wish I had more $ on us that day.
-The online web page advertised over 20 clans, there were only about seven clan tents. Maybe less. Two of them weren't even really clan tents.
-The the online web page advertised loads of pipe bands and other celtic music acts. I think there were only about three pipe bands.
-The opening ceremonies were very disappointing, no one sang any of the anthems. Being a musician this really bothered me, and my girlfriend being a professional singer, it bothered me even more.
-Watching the Highland dancing was very enjoyable. It's always nice see the children carry on the traditions.
-I did not watch much of the athletic competition because there didn't seem to be much going on. I saw no evidence of the caber toss as an event.
-The fee to attend these games were too high. It should have been about $7 for adults instead of $10. Children 12 and under were $5. I think infants should have been free and children 5-12 should have been around $4 entry fee. Plus there was a $5 parking fee. With the location, it would have been difficult to park else where and walk.
I really hate to make a critique like this but we were disappointed on Saturday.
