How does it compare to your calf skin formal sporran for which it appears identical? Actually perhaps bring them both to the next kilt night so that we can all be Wompet knowledgable.

Glen, that is a nice looking sporran. I'm thinking that I may have to spring for a formal fur sporran.
Coincidently, the Fish and Wildlife inspector and I looked at a shipment of hides today, and sealskin sporrans were mentioned.

I'm willing to discuss methods of identifying pelts, if you're willing to listen (WARNING: with all the trainees I've been herding, I find myself slipping into "lecturer mode" a lot lately).
