TFCK "full length" kilt?

So I was in another group that I participate in recently, and saw mention of a long kilt. It turns out that Howie over at TFCK makes what he calls a "full length" kilt. Despite the many posts about kilt length on the do's and don'ts thread, I wonder how many of us here would consider wearing such a garment. I personally think it would be great for winter and/or windy days. Well, that and I think it would be nice to not have to worry about ever "answering the question."

I think that we can go a step too far on the adaptation of the kilt,and what you are suggesting is that step.NO!

An interesting idea, but I couldn't personally wear it. Not because its not traditional which it isn't, but just cause it looks like a pain to wear due to length and weight, plus the bottom would get dirty and frayed i'm sure.

I'm unsure, I dont think I'd wear it in place of a regular 'walking kilt' or pants, but I cant say I'm against the idea either. I often enough go out in a full length leather longcoat, which leaves only my boots showing and the look isnt to differant from that.

Practicality wise, it has possable strengths, like you say, in the cold and wind, but I dont think it'd be all that mobile. I'm sure it wont restrict leg movement any, but with it being so long, it'll have the same problem as my longcoat, the hem will be stood on when I walk up steps. I dont think it'd look all that manly to have to hitch your kilt up before you tackle a staircase.

To be absolutle fair, I think that kilt does look good, its the cardigan that spoils the outfit.

No, I'm not enthusiatic. I've seen pics of floor length men's skirts which are made in Belgium and they wouldn't be my scene. I think these long kilts would be impractical and would look too much like women's formal evening wear. If I wanted to wear a floor length garment I would just wear trousers. While a knee length skirt on a man is commonly recognised as a kilt, an ankle length kilt would be perceived as a skirt.
