Approx. 2-1/2"
Brushed pewter.
I bought another thistle brooch, recently, from the same seller...
...that brooch turned out to be very nice...
This one appears to be a bit heavier...
It should deliver in a couple days... will give more descrips when it does!

Wow, that is lovely! I think I'll have to start trolling ebay now.

How often do you actually wear such a thing?

Is this worn in place of a pin?

I wear my other thistle brooch as a kilt brooch on my feile mor.
I've also used it as a kilt pin, and balmoral badge.
Now that I'll have 2 that are similar, my wife can use it with her arisaidh, when we get that together.

My 2nd Thistle brooch has arrived!
Material: Pewter, with a semi-soft brushed finish. Decently stout pin.
Weight: Not as heavy as, say, a badge from the Tartan Museum. But adequately constructed for use as a balmoral badge, kilt brooch, or a kilt pin.
Detail: Very nicely/sharply detailed... slight "antiquing" effect is present. Photo does not do justice to the detail.
Overall: I'm pleased with the overall look. Since it is not a heavyweight, it is less likely to sag.
