Is it normal that I want to have a couple of skirts in the tartans my husband has kilts in?

Yes, I have many friends. That are couples that wear matching kilt and shirt.

One of our members in the Egypt Shrine Highlander, him and his wife have matching Masonic kilt and shirt.

Jude has two MacRae long kilt dresses that she got off eBay, and a MacKay short kilt from USA Kilts. And she is more than supportive of my kilt wearing activities.

I think traditionally it's common sense. Back in the day one only wore their clan tartan, so when a women wed she not only took her husbands name but also his clan tartan. Wearing a skirt in the same tartan, or a shawl, a sash or anything in that tartan would just complete the look.
