Mine is after the movement in the Requiem Mass, "Rex Tremendę."

Years ago, in another forum, my previous online identity was giving off an impression that did not suit me, so I cast about for a new moniker. A friend of mine found hers in liturgical music, so I looked there too and decided "Rex Tremendę" would make a good name: it came from music - specifically choral music, which I love - and it more or less fit my personality. People of a certain ilk usually recognize it often starts some interesting conversations.

Sometimes people tell me "Rex Tremende" is spelled wrong. Well, yes and no. The first time I tried to set up a profile with this name, I attempted to use the character ę, but it kept changing it to an e. By accident, I committed to the e and not the usual two-letter combination, ae. I decided that "Tremende" looked like a decent enough surname that I should keep it that way.

I have opined as Rex in many forums for so many years that I answer to "Rex" in public as I would to my given name. Indeed, some people only know me that way, and I no longer think of it as just a nom de plume.

    Regards,
    Rex.

I hadn't really used a nom de plume in like 3-4 years, so when I needed one for Xmarks I kind of - tongue in cheek - chose a slightly arrogant name, like I would have used when I was younger. Hence the Wonder. Do I need to explain the kilted...

    berserkbishop

No one through high school ever used my first name, not even teachers so I have always gone by my surname, Bishop. The berserk, well that comes from my somewhat reckless nature and being the "rebel" amongst my siblings,

I've been called too many things to remember...As a Hospital Corpsman FMF, everyone called me Doc (way too common, but hey, goes with the territory), when I finally made it on the SWAT team, I was called SWATPUP for my entire rookie year...Most of the guys call me Chase since my last name is spelled Chiasson (pronounced Chase-on) except in Canada where the correct pronunciation is SHA-sohn,

Anyway, That's the way I like it and I've been called Chase ever since.

    Great thread...Lots of originality

I understand. My goal in life is to become an old curmudgeon and so far all I have attained is being an old codger.

My Forum Name began as Mkfarkus which I've used elsewhere on the net based on a nickname my foster son gave me. My first name is Mark and I objected strongly to Marky Mark so he tried Marcus Farkus and eventually just Farkus.

So one day someone in the kilted community made a (natural) mistake and called me McFarkus. Since that seemed appropriate, I asked the moderators to change my screen name (now that I think of it, if I'm Farkus, my SON would be McFarkus_.

    Mine is somewhat obvious...

I'm kilted, my first name's John. The Sporrano part came from when a bunch of users started the sporrano clan a couple years ago. I joined in. Never reverted back to my old username, tho.

Mine is jordan (my first name), j (my middle initial), m (my last inital), I started out on the net as univac, then I tried out pcjr, then I tried jordan_j_m, I got tired of explaining what the underscore is to people, so I shortened it, and kept it lowercase because I use Linux. <offtopic>The TARDIS is a lot better than anything in Start Trek or Star Wars.</offtopic> I guess I don't have a lot of imagination when it comes to internet handles, because in my BBS days I just used Jordan.
