    1) How often do you wear the kilt? Daily

    2) (If you wear it daily) What profession allows this sort of dress? Master Gunnery Sergeant, USMC Retired

    3) How does your significant other feel about it? Who asked her?

    4) How do you respond to people who question your motives for wearing the kilt? I have never had anyone question my motives for wearing the kilt!

    5) Do you think kilts are becoming more popular? Yes! and more accepted too!

    6) Do you really want them to be more popluar? That's an interesting question. My answer is yes! I choose to wear the kilt for comfort and to honor my heritage, not because of any desire to be different. (Yes Grant, I know - whether I want to be different, or not - I am)

    1) At least most of the time when I am home. (It is so, so comfortable to work in.) I will wear it when going some places.

    2) I am working on this.

    3) She hates it. Most of my friends think its great. My best friend and his wife are disappointed when I do not wear a kilt. (they are awesome people)

    4) How do you respond to people who question your motives for wearing the kilt?
It depends on the attitude. Some I am willing to talk at length and for others I draw my sword.

    5) Not where I live.

    6) Yes

I do wear a kilt daily, but it is mostly at home. I'm a retired old fart, so I don't wear kilts to work, unless you consider climbing on my old John Deere tractor and bush hogging the lower field as working in a kilt. I definitely don't go out in public as often as many, but I do occasionally wear a kilt when my wife and I go out to dinner, or to a movie. But, due to rising gas prices and being on a fixed income, those occasions happen a lot less now. Oh well, I guess that's the price of living in the country. Anyhow, here are my answers:

    1) How often do you wear the kilt?
    Daily

    2) (If you wear it daily) What profession allows this sort of dressRetired Instrument tech

    3) How does your significant other feel about it?
She doesn't say anything about the daily wear, but she has said I look good in kilts

    4) How do you respond to people who question your motives for wearing the kilt?
    I've never been asked

(I have a very good, very old friend (a girl) who just could not believe that I wear a kilt in public. She gave me a really hard time about it over dinner with other friends. I was really surprised at her reaction. None of my guy friends have reacted that way.)

    5) Do you think kilts are becoming more popular?
Yes, I've been on this forum since 04, and it has multiplied in size by a factor of more than 5 in that 3 years

    6) Do you really want them to be more popluar?
To a certain extent. I'd like to see more wear by men in the general public, but I'd hate to see the kilt adopted by rappers or something. And, (I'll probably get in trouble with the mods for this) I'd hate to see men's kilts adopted as general wear by women.

    1) How often do you wear the kilt?
    Weekends mostly

    3) How does your significant other feel about it?
She tolerates it, but is clearly not enthusiastic.

    4) How do you respond to people who question your motives for wearing the kilt?
I tell them I wear it because I can.

    5) Do you think kilts are becoming more popular?
Yes, but not enough so to be significant.

    6) Do you really want them to be more popluar?
It wouldn't hurt. I don't mind standing out, but it would be nice to see some more kilts out and about.

    Best regards,

    Jake

    1) How often do you wear the kilt?
When I feel like it; 3 or 4 days a week.
    2) (If you wear it daily) What profession allows this sort of dress?
    Retired.
    3) How does your significant other feel about it?
Not entirely happy. Quite happy when I wear it for "Scottish" things like SCD or black tie dinners or weddings, but not when I am casually dressed to go to the local shops etc.. I don't really know why, except that she herself is very uncomfortable when she feels she is not dressed correctly for the occasion i.e. she is rather too concerned about the opinion of others.
    4) How do you respond to people who question your motives for wearing the kilt?
People who know I am a Scot don't question. Those that find out when I open my mouth withdraw the question!
    5) Do you think kilts are becoming more popular?
I have no direct evidence of this where I live.
    6) Do you really want them to be more popluar?
I have no objection at all.

    1) How often do you wear the kilt?
Whenever I wish. That's all of most days and at least a part of most others.

    2) (If you wear it daily) What profession allows this sort of dress?
I'm retired. Having a good time is my job.

    3) How does your significant other feel about it?
She was surprised at first but warmed to it quickly. She has offered to make me one if I let her pick the fabric. I haven't decided how to respond to that. She's a tease. Would you believe teeny weeny yellow polka dots?

    4) How do you respond to people who question your motives for wearing the kilt?
I've never been asked. Everyone who speaks to me about it approves strongly.

    5) Do you think kilts are becoming more popular?
I really can't tell, but the WWW has sure made them easier to get and I approve of that.

    6) Do you really want them to be more popular?
I'm ambivalent. I think kilts are a Very Good Thing and sometimes it's hard for me to share.

You guys are all so nice. I really appreciate all of the responses. Not knowing really anyone that has the interest (girlfriend would say obsession) in kilts that I have is difficult sometimes. I have actually second guessed wearing it to places, thinking "This is very unlike me to make such a fuss over a garment,". I don;t like to draw attention to myself, and that is a big turn off to me: people that need to have other's approval or attention to feel good about themselves. I don't ever want to be lumped in with that lot. I came to the kilt from a family roots perspective. That is why I enjoy it so much. I am a huge history buff, and I am a family history nut. I will never understand people who don't care where they come from.

    PEACE.

Any time I go out of the house, with 2 exceptions - (1) when I'm riding my bicycle (I bring my kilt with me & change at my destination) & (2) occasionally a client for my DJing services (a professional hobby) prefers I wear pants to their event (my view is, you pay me enough money, I'll wear pants! )

    2) (If you wear it daily) What profession allows this sort of dress?
I'm a senior software engineer at a major Fortune 500 company that strongly supports diversity & equality.

    3) How does your significant other feel about it?
After over 4 years of being kilted, my wife is resigned to me wearing kilts, but she'd prefer I wear pants some of the time because she says it shows off my butt better.

    4) How do you respond to people who question your motives for wearing the kilt?
Depends on how they ask. I'll try to be polite, but I don't have to justify wearing a kilt to anyone & I don't try! To quote a Lovin' Spoonful song, "It's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout Rock 'n' Roll..." If they don't get it, you're wasting your time trying to explain it.

    5) Do you think kilts are becoming more popular?
Obviously, this forum is proof that more men are wearing them regularly nowadays, but the numbers are still so incredibly small that the kilt is a lo-o-ong way from being considered "popular."

    6) Do you really want them to be more popluar?
I don't really care one way or the other. I'd just like the general public to be acclimated enough to them that they stop asking such stupid & inappropriate questions!
