Blair is the site of the last castle siege on British soil. 1746: Lord George Murray and part of the Jacobite army attacking his family's own house! It was defended by a Col. Agnew and part of the 21st Reg't of Foot. The siege was a failure as Lord George had to break off the action and rejoin the Bonnie Prince and the remainder of the army for what would be the final act: Culloden....

It's not my clan, but I've always liked the Duke of Atholl because of that. Not that I believe everyone should have an army, ceremonial or otherwise. It's just such an interesting twist of history that he still has that.

Great pictures. Hope to make it there someday. Always thought it was a beautiful castle.
