    Stillwater Kilts, Thrifty and Economy

I've just been looking at the SWK website, having heard a lot of good things said about them and was stunned at the prices of the thrifty and economy kilts.

My question is, why the low price? Does anyone know what they are made from, and what the make quality is like?

I must admit, I like the look of the USMC tartan ecomomy kilt, and I'd have one soon if its a decent buy.
Can anyone vouch for this kilts?

They are made in Pakistan and are of Acrylic, except their heavyweight line which is approx. 13 oz wool. They are, despite my description, a decent quality kilt in the traditional cut. I will recommend them as a decent entry level kilt.

They are made of Acrylic, I bought one of the economy models for my nephey as he just wanted a kilt for drumming in with his band so he did not want an expensive kilt. I was very surprised with the quality. It really is a great kilt for the money, no pun intended.

That said if it were me I would splurge for either the Standard or the Heavyweight as they have more features than the economy or the thrifty kilt.

If you do a search on the words 'review' and 'stillwater' you'll find a couple of reasonably in-depth examinations of the various Stillwater models. I'm quite fond of them, and find the standard to be an excellent daily-wear kilt.

My first commercial kilt was a Stillwater standard. I also have an SWK economy that I like a lot ... for the price, they can't be beaten. It's not a handsewn, tailored kilt, but it won't cost you $500 either.

    I would certainly recommend them.

I have two Economy Kilts. A lot of kilt for the money. I would like to purchase some nicer kilts, but I think that the Stillwater Economy is a great choice first kilt or two to get a feel for kilt wearing and sizing.
