    My Parents were right!

My parents were right...about tea, that is. I just read this:

"People who drank 5 cups a day of black tea for 2 weeks had 10 times more virus-fighting interferon in their blood than others who drank a placebo hot drink, in a Harvard study. The amino acid that's responsible for this immune boost, L-theanine, is abundant in both black and green tea--decaf versions have it, too. "

I'm afraid 5 cups a day would give you some pretty nasty looking teeth, though!!

And that adding milk absolutely nullifies those effects.

I've been having between 4 and 7 cups a day for the last few months. But I have it with milk, one sugar. Oh well, it's good for the soul, at any rate.

Oh, and my teeth look fine, but I brush thoroughly.

so those of us in the south with all of our iced tea and sweet tea are in great shape! You wouldn't mix milk with cold tea, now would you?

Now, about the healthy, non-brown teeth...

Well, some people DO make their tea and/or coffee to their liking, and then refrigerate it.

My goodness I must be safe from every infection going! When at work I just about have a cup of tea on the hour every hour!

My teath are fine though, brushed well. My dad is a long term tea drinker too, as his teath are fine as well. (And as it happens, I;ve never once in my life seen him ill!)

My wife likes tea but I rarely drink it - I'm more of a coffee junkie myself.

Coffee and Tea have their own benefits. And I guess we should add beer and wine to that list. It is when these get used in excess that we get into trouble.

It has been said “All things in moderation”, but to follow the axiom to the letter would itself be an excess, so I change it to “most things in moderation” and ease my conscience with picking and choosing my excesses.

Kilts and coffee top my current list!
