It's sad that when someone makes a well-reasoned decision such as "hey, i like kilts, they look good, I like standing out a bit and they're just dead comfortable, so maybe I'll actually wear it" some small-minded people must react so negatively. But then again, the positives of the kilt and the positive reactions outweigh the opinion of a few of wet blankets...
    I must remember that joke!

I'm glad you "got out there" and didn't let sadness keep you from going...and going kilted!

    Hi RB,

I spent three weeks in Palm Springs, in a gated community, in October last year, and was kilted the entire visit. We 'escaped' most days and went downtown or to the pool; we went to restaurants in both PS and Cathedral City; we went into the Imperial Sand Dunes and to Joshua Tree NP, and we took the tramway up into the mountains. Not once were I, my similarly kilted pal or our hosts, aware of any untoward comments at all in those three weeks. Maybe it is different, however, if you have been known there previously living one lifestyle, and suddenly present your neighbours with another.

    My belated condolences to you.

    You are SOOOO brave RB,

Dealing with such deep grief is tough enough, but then there ain't nothing worse socially than being single in a group where many are coupled. Way to brass it out.

My sense is you'll soon have a line of interested ladies when you're ready for further adventures.

Thank you all for your words of support and encouragement. It is not easy grieving the loss of someone so dear........your true love, your solemate. My new affinity for the kilt is helping me make the transition to a life without her, so how can someone think that's a bad thing? I don't expect small minded people to understand, so I don't let them bother me. I LOVE wearing my kilt and I'm planning to buy another. I'm sure there will come a time when everyone is so used to seeing me in it, they won't even blink. 'Till then, I'll enjoy rocking their world! Kilt on brothers!

Way to go RB. There will always be people who cannot fathom the idea of going against the grain. Some things are just hard for people to understand. I cannot understand why people ever wore leisure suits, but I do not question them.

I think it was the great Paul McCartney that said, "Let it be, let it be, let it be."

Rock on R.B. And my sincere condolences for you and the loss you have experienced.

May you have warm words on a cold evening,
A full moon on a dark night,
And the road downhill all the way to your door.

Number 2 is on the way!

Like the song says, "Let's give 'em somethin' to talk about" ......I went ahead and ordered my second kilt from the Celtic Craft Centre here in Palm Springs. I chose the MacQueen tartan because it is such a classic formal look with the black PC or Argyle jackets. The blokes there said it may take a while because all the Scots are drunk between Thanksgiving and New Years, so nothing gets done! Say it isn't so!!!! I wore my Gordon all day yesterday so a lot more neighbors have seen me in it lookin' good!
    Cheers!

good for you! Maybe you can use a few bottles of single malt to bribe them to stay sober a little longer. Just be sure to promise the bribe, but don't give it until your kilt is done

    Losing It

Okay, I liked the quarterpounder joke but the cheese comment was just gross........funny but gross. One more question RB.....the gates on these communities........are they to keep people out.............or in?

My condolences on your loss, but you're doing the right thing!
    Keep on kilting!
