Thanks guys. That's the first non-fanfiction piece that I've actually finished in awhile. And one of very few things I've written that isn't sci-fi or fantasy. I'm glad you enjoyed it. No higher praise can be given a writer, unless it has what Robert Heinlein once described as the acme of English prose: "Pay to the order of:" written somewhere on it.

No. The piece is fiction. In my present state of health less than a quarter of what happened to the main character would kill me. It is not, however, fanfiction, which is a work based on the work of another writer, generally a famous one. I've written a bit of Harry Potter fanfic. It's both easier and harder at the same time than regular fiction. Easier because you have other people's characters and plots to work with, harder because you have to work with other people's characters and plots. I'm sorry if that seems cryptic, but I just got up and it's the best I can really do.
