No, cause if you don't say it I will. I am glad I tried others after GF or it would be the only scotch I ever had.

As a lass from Aberdeen once told me, "the best scotch is the free one."

Which, Glenfiddich did you try? The 12yr? I'm not overly fond of that one either. The 15yr is better, and the 18 and 21yr are awesome (well I really like them).

Scotch almost any scotch straight up with a glass of ice water to cleanse the palate inbetween sips. If that doesn't work than wild turkey rare breed, single barrel 12 yr old bourbon.

Back when I drank, I was partial to Laphroaig.

Like others posted on this thread, my favorite scotch is Lagavulin. However, Ardbeg is probably a close second. I don't find it quite as mellow as Lagavulin but it has LOTS of peaty, smoky flavor. As for Irish whiskey, Redbreast is without peer. But I also enjoy Powers.

This year I've been on Laphroaig (a very peaty Islay number), though currently polishing off a McCallan (getting a little bored with this now, but it's a good allrounder I think) and an Aberlour (quite smoky gift from my wee sister who works there).
My next bottle will be an Ardbeg as my uncle recommended it at the weekend after a long slightly drunken chat (so I guess that article confirms what he said).
I go for Powers when drinking Irish.

Isle of Jura's not bad too, had a bottle of that recently.
Not big on Glenfiddich or Glenlivet, wouldn't buy them again.
Yeesh, to think I thought I wasn't a big whisky guy, but when you start to add it all up....man!
