Belt Sizing
When buying a new kilt belt, what size do you get? Seeing how it sits up higher than a standard belt, do you size it at the natural waist like your kilt and then go up a size?

I don't want this to sound wrong but you put on your kilt and then wrap a tape measure around yourself and read the numbers.
Simple.

I wear the kilt because: Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

I think Bryan may be wanting to buy his belt at the same time as his kilt, so he can't put his kilt on first. The top of most kilts are worn higher than pants. Close to the belly button area or higher.
This is where you should measure.
When you see kilts worn with the belly flopping over the front, it's because the wearer has allowed the flop-over to happen, and should take the time to pull his kilt up, and tuck his belly in. Having said that, some kilts are designed from the ground up to be worn at the pants level.
Which type of kilt are you buying?

My sister, a nurse, told me that this is referred to as Dunlap's Disease..."his belly dun laps over his belt!"!

Yep, I suffer from Dunlaps disease! That may be one of the small reasons that I like kilts. I look skinnier in kilts, cause the natural waist of a kilt is higher, and tends to pull my gut in. Also the wider belt of the kilt has more control over the massive gut, that I'm trying to get rid of.
On a side note - do you know that I lost weight on my recent cruise? That only proves that there must be fewer calories in booze than in food, cause I sure did drink my share!

Add two inches to the size of your kilt, to allow for the bulk of the material.

My Kilts are 38" I buy 42" belts. Some kilts are thicker than others, and you have to allow for it.

I would go with about 4" over the natural waist measurement to allow for adjustment. I wear a 48" kilt and my belts are all around 52"-54". (Hagrid sizing)
