This past summer, I was standing on a subway platform in the heart of Harlem, wearking a UK. A black family (middle-aged couple with an older lady) recognized it and I could hear them commenting how well-tailored it looked and very masculine. The husband later approached me and asked about getting one! Maybe another kiltie?
So my answer would be that I get the same response to both.
