UK often seem to be a bit longer to me; I have two, but need to wear them higher than hips and they certainly need a belt or they'll fall down. yet they supposed to be my size.
I enjoy wearing them just the same. Mine is 38" but seems rather roomy. I have a 40 -for weight variation - but that is REALLY roomy.

Hotdamm, somebody needs me! I have 15 Utilikilts, age, and a belly.

Just finished putting together a gallery at Photobucket
    http://s237.photobucket.com/albums/ff147/riverkilt/

You can go down to the bottom of the subalbums list and look at a fat man in Utilikilts. I wear mine same way as a pair of jeans. There's just no way to wear them high.

Most important, measure like UK wants you to -particularly your waist - ignore your pant size totally when ordering... and put the hem at the TOP of the knee or the cloth will beat the back of your knees and you won't like it much.

I wear a short (21") in a UK since I'm wearing it low on my hips and high on my knees. Never did a beer gut cut. These are all regular cut.

Here's a couple of pics, more in the gallery. Topless so you can see where the waist is.

And here's a shot dressed showing the belly overhang....

    Hope that helps some...
