We're a divided couple so no Christmas stuff until after Hannukah.

Today I raked leaves, unfortunatly there was some snow and ice on the ground so 10lb bag of leaves now weigh 50lbs. There if not enough ice on the roof for my wife's liking to send me up there. Maybe next week she'll send me up it'll be more dangerous .

Hmm. Don't think our Christmas tree gets downloaded until the 10th or so. I always have to input the lights. With any luck, I can hire a contractor or two to help connect the ornaments and then we can turn on XmOS v2.007. Of course, the big surprise is going to see what kind of add-ons come during the holidays.

Yesterday I went deer hunting all day - all I saw was squirrels and a couple of grouse (and a mob of woodpeckers sounding like teletype machines!).

Today I was a good family guy and did all the outside decorating: one of those plastic light-up Nativity sets with figures about 20" tall (I built a wooden "stable" thingy to place them in. With spruce boughs and little white lights on top it looks pretty cool). Also, little white lights on the bushes (non-blinking! I hate the blinkers!!).

The best part was my Dad gave me all of his old fashioned strings of lights with the large-sized bulbs (some of them dating back to the `50's). With these around the windows, we now have a "retro" look as well.

The tree won't go up for a couple of weeks yet....

A Santa Baby is the same thing with the pepermint flavored schnapps replaced with cinammon.

So your not happy enough to have a pink kilt, you have to have pink christmas drinks too. Is there no end?

Ok, ok...we ARE putting up a tree and setting out the Advent wreath. However, my wife's favorite hobbys is decorating the house for the holidays. Any holiday. If there isn't one, she'll make one up.
The house is always decorated in some form or another. This move is driving her crazy.

Just let her go overboard next year in your quaint new house. You'll have now stress or worries (and a couple of new kilts) this time next year.

I came up with the great idea to just leave them up all year once. I was living in military housing at the time and apparently somebody complained because I got a warning letter saying that I had to take them down. It really annoys me when people feel a need to complain about things that don't concern them and it was only a week before independence day so, rather than take them down, I laboriously replaced every bulb with alternating red/white/blue bulbs then replied to the letter saying that my Christmas lights were taken down and my 4th of July lights replaced them.

One of my favourite displays I have seen is a lighted lawn deer gutted and hanging from a tree.

So, I think that Jaime might have a German tradition in his house???
I am proud of my German heritage as well as Scot and Dutch so I find the story charming. A happy coincidence.

James I do believe that you beat me by one day. All the outside stuff went up on saturday but the inside tree and all didn't go up till today. My lady really loves the holidays and couldn't put it off any longer. The only reason it wasn't up on friday is that is the day she does all here black friday shopping.
